The UK games market has seen growth in the month in September. This is thanks to the release of one particular game.
UK gamers bought 5.17 million retail boxed games in the month of September. This is up 45% year-over-year. Retail stores in the country earned £187.2 million in revenue. This is the first the game industry in the UK has seen growth since December 2008.
This is largely thanks to the release of Grand Theft Auto V. Grand Theft Auto V accounted for 52% of all games bought in the UK in September 2013. This means 2.6 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V were sold in the UK in just two weeks.
