Earlier today, Sega released some information about it’s upcoming slate of games coming to mobile devices and tablets in the near future. The two biggest game announcements involved the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with the unveiling of both a remastered Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for iOS and Android.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the classic game that was many gamers’ first entry into the Sonic series on Sega Genesis. A regular release of the game came previously for iOS, and this new version will actually be free for those that already have purchased the original. This will be the first time that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be available on the Android platform. Both will be available very soon as it will be released this November.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is the very popular racing series that combines many of Sega’s biggest properties in a racing game, similar to what Mario Kart does with the Mario series, except more expansive with characters. The previous title in the series had a mobile release in 2011 and this looks to be a worthy followup. The game will feature four-player local and online play. Look for this title sometime this Winter for iOS and Android.
