Ubisoft’s Uplay first made an appearance on the current generation of consoles with the release of Assassin’s Creed II and now we knwo that the service will be continuing onto the next generation of consoles. Today, Ubisoft announced that Uplay will be included in both of their AAA titles this fall, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Watch Dogs.
The Uplay service has always been separate from other gaming networks such as Xbox Live or Playstation Network. At the time it was very controversial for PC users due to the DRM included that would stop your gameplay if you were disconnected from online. Eventually this was removed and the service just became a hub for Ubisoft games. Beyond the console achievements and trophies, the service has it’s own achievements that by completing, give you points to spend to unlock special things within Ubisoft titles you own.
The Wii U was the first to receive an actual Uplay app last year around launch of the new console. It could be assumed that some sort of app could be coming to the new consoles with this news of the games including Uplay as well. The question now is what new features will Ubisoft look at including as we move forward.
