Batman: Arkham Origins continues to look better and better, but we must not forget Armature Studio’s handheld Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate that is a completely different game, which takes place after the console versions in fact. According to an interview with game director Mark Pacini, it was unveiled that the game will take a cue from the Mega Man franchise in how it tackles its bosses.
When you start the game, you will have the option of which boss you would like to face first and so on until you beat them all. This of course is just like the Mega Man franchise where you get to pick who you want to fight from the selection screen. It was not said how specifically you will choose who you are fighting in what order yet. Pacini said that this was done so that repeat playthroughs of the game will not always feel the same and allow for more replayability.
Getting to choose the order in which you fight the bosses isn’t the only Mega Man like feature that you will find in the game. Every boss you face will give you a special item tied to that specific boss upon their defeat. The weapon you acquire will then be useful against future bosses or other areas of the game, just like in the Mega Man franchise.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be available for Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita on October 25.
