The next gen is nearly upon as and, because of this, it has become hard to justify buying certain upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titles that are going to appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. GameStop is helping alleviate some of the financial pressure in this situation by allowing PowerUp Rewards Members (you’ll need at least the free account) to trade in current gen titles toward their next gen counterparts upon release.
For example, games such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Madden NFL 25, FIFA ’14, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag are set to release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (reportedly) before their next gen versions hit store shelves. As long as you pick up one of these titles within 30 days of their launch date, you can trade it in for a whopping $50 toward a PS4 or Xbox One copy, leaving you a measly $10 left to pay before tax.
This deal should entice those of us that were planning on holding off on specific titles to avoid paying full price for the same game twice. Now you can duke it out online in Battlefield 4 or Call of Duty: Ghosts and switch over to your next gen console of choice without dishing out too much more money.
