Ever since Ubisoft announced Rainbow 6: Patriots two years ago, the company has been pretty quiet in terms of its release and details about the game.
This year at Gamescom, IGN had a chance to talk to Alain Corre, Executive Director of Ubisoft, and asked about the current status of Patriots. According to Corre, Rainbow 6: Patriots is “still cooking”. For the him, “[Rainbow 6 is an] important franchise for Ubisoft. We want to make sure, on this one, like all the other games we’re working on, that we bring it when we feel it’s perfect.”
When asked whether or not they will retain the Rainbow 6: Patriots title, Corre was adamant about it, though he stated “We can’t say yet. We’re iterating. What we want is to have a compelling story. We want people who play the next Rainbow 6 to be astonished, to be very pleased with what they see. You’ve seen that the improvement in games over the last few years has been exponential. We have to reflect that improvement in quality. That’s what we’re doing on all our games”
There you have it folks, Rainbow 6: Patriots is still coming, although it is no longer on the current-gen consoles but for the PS4 and Xbox One. In terms of the game’s release date, we’re not sure when it will release though let’s hope it will be late next year.
