Ubisoft has dropped a new update, 0.10.0, for their free-to-play PC shooter, Ghost Recon Online. In addition to the expected fixes and tweaks, update 0.10.0 brings a new game mode called Holdout and a new map titled Balaklava Sub Pen.
Holdout tasks both teams with reaching a capture point placed in the center of the map. Once a team has gained control, they must defend the capture point until the round ends. As you can imagine, the shorter round timers coupled with both teams battling it out over a single point results in intense firefights. The new map, Balaklava Sub Pen, was crafted with Holdout in mind and draws inspiration from the “formerly classified, underground submarine facility in Ukraine that was operational until 1993”.
Also contained within the update is the ability to set up clan matches. Clans have been able to be created or joined since October of last year and now these established clans can take on others, possibly creating their own online rivalry. Theo Sanders, Ghost Recon Online’s Producer, was rather excited about this new content and specifically addressed the clan match feature:
We’re also keeping our promise to the community with the introduction of the Clan Match feature. Fighting alongside your clan mates and friends, challenging another clan; social competition is such an integral part of the GRO experience, and this feature goes a long way towards fueling this experience.
