Sony has announced that it is laying off 2000 of its employees. This does not include employees that are likely to lose their jobs outside of Japan too.
The layoff is part of plan to make 10,000 of its workers redundant in hopes it will save the company $378 million annually from 2013 onwards. Although this includes Sony’s other divisions outside of its gaming branch, some video game studios have already been shut.
Some of Sony’s game studios that have already been closed includes Liverpool studio in the UK as well as BigBig Studios and Zipper Interactive.
Sony’s latest financial report showed a loss of $310 million.
