Quick Farming Guide
The following guides just give you an idea of how I was doing each area. I suggest adjusting each fight to your own needs, like if you don’t want a certain pistol, then don’t waste the time doing it. To help you figure out what you want and don’t want, I listed notable enemies in each video and what item they’re known for dropping.
The Dust
- Black Spider Queen (rare spawn) – Nukem
- Mobley / Gettle – Veruc
- Hodunks (based off alliance choice) – Slagga
- Mick Zaford (based off alliance choice) – Maggie
For locations, please check the videos below.
Caustic Caverns
- Vermivorous the Invincible (not shown, requires Ultimate Badass to evolve) – Legendary Class Mod (Assassin, Solider, Siren, Gunzerker), Norfleet, Nasty Surprise, Head Mod, possible others
- Ultimate Badass Varkid (not shown, requires Super Badass to Evolve) – Quasar
- Chubby Varkid (not shown, randomly spawns from a pod) – Bunny, Whisky Tango Foxtrot
- Blue (not shown) – Fabled Tortoise
- Badass Creeper – Venture Longbow, Blockhead
Sadly the Ultimate Badass Varkid, Chubby enemies and Verm are all random spawn bosses that have a higher rate with more people. Sadly I didn’t happen to summon any of them, but it is possible to summon an Ultimate Badass on your own. The only real key is to kill Varkids that stop doing stuff after a few minutes. Also Blue isn’t pictured, but he’s in a cave to the east of where you start. His shield removes your ability to run, which I frankly think is useless, so I didn’t show him. To give you an idea how I was going about this, check out the video below.
Also if you want to get an idea of what Vermivorous the Invincible is like, you can find my first fight against him below. Be warned that he VERY rarely drops anything useful, so it’s hardly worth the effort.
The Bunker
This was not my best run of The Bunker, but basically don’t kill his turrets. So long as they’re there, he won’t fly away, which makes him easier to kill quickly. After you get him to zero health, he will move to the area in the middle, which you should just open fire. Sooner or later he will be open for a final hit, which will ultimately kill him. If you would like to see my poor run against him, you can find the video below.
Vault of the Warrior
- The Warrior – Harold, Conference Call, Volcano, Jacks Mask, Misc others
Unlike most enemies in Borderlands 2, The Warrior seems to have a chance of dropping just about anything. While the Conference Call is his staple item, many others have reported various golden weapons dropping from him. In my personal experience, I’ve seen him drop the Vlad, Gunnerang, Sledge’s Shotgun, and maybe even more I never got. Unlike most enemies, here are some useful tips to actually fight The Warrior.
- You can walk to his vault on normal and then change it to True Vault to get inside without dealing with really strong enemies.
- The Warrior as I’ve stated many times, won’t attack if you do enough damage fast enough.
- If you stand away from his body, you have a lower chance of loot going under him.
- In the event you find something good under his body, there is a way to actually obtain that item. Simply exit out of the area and then walk to his vault again. Unlike White items, rare items don’t seem to disappear, so you pretty much have unlimited time to get back there. Once you reenter the vault, his body will be gone and you can loot the item. However, leaving the game for any reason will make the item disappear and respawn the boss.
- Some claim you can farm his body by just pushing the button during story.
Finally if you would like to see me fighting The Warrior, you can see that and the hidden badass challenge in the video below.
Terramorphous Peak
- Terramorphous the Invincible – Breath of Terra, Hide of Terra, Slayer of Terra, Teeth of Terra, Blood of Terra, Pitchfork, Head Mod, Misc
One of the things that makes Terramorphous the Invincible cool, is the fact that he can drop 4 completely unique weapons. These are all pretty rare and useless, but the Hide / Blood of Terra is rumored to help Varkids evolve. In either case, you can check me out soloing him below.
[Editors Note: Some fights / bosses require certain missions or conditions to be fulfilled. Make sure you’ve completed these before trying to get any of these items or you might be wasting time.]

October 9, 2012 at 9:29 PM@ Maya, I can try, but you need to tell me what you need help with.

October 10, 2012 at 12:46 AM@Grant Gaines I just need help trying to get the bee shield. I also need help with finding some of the Siren heads, if you could help. I’m a level 28 Siren.

October 10, 2012 at 12:59 AMI just realized you’re on PS3. :( dang.

October 10, 2012 at 1:06 AM@ Maya
To even get these things quickly, you got to reload the game, which makes online play annoying. Honestly speaking, a level 28 Bee will be useless at level 37 and will lead to you having to redo it at level 50 anyway. Also heads are absurdly rare. Between me and my friends, we’ve gotten 1 from Terra out of at least 300 runs.

October 10, 2012 at 10:07 AMHey, I was just wondering if you would happen to have any terra siren mods laying around that I could possibly have? I’ve had no luck whatsoever getting the siren mod >.>. Psn:Naiamd_
Thanks in advance. :)

Deebes
October 21, 2012 at 11:45 PMGreat write up, grant. I’ve farmed for legendary items a lot but my pantry is still missing the great stuff. Add “deebes” and let’s play sometime. I have a few tricks to share too. lvl 50 assassin.

October 22, 2012 at 9:59 PMThank you so much for the helpful guide. I am just about finished up with my TVHM walkthrough and can’t wait to start farming. Do you have a spare terra commando mod I could have?

October 23, 2012 at 3:56 AMYeah. Just add me on the PSN and I will do that when I have a chance.

October 23, 2012 at 11:42 PMif I farm the orange grenade mod that is dropped by bewm and boom, will it be leveled. For example, most players fight that boss at right around level 4. so if I take my level 20 character and fight boom and bewm, will it drop a level 4 orange grenade mod or something to my level
Grant Gaines (大将)
October 23, 2012 at 11:47 PM@ Bob
It drops based off THEIR level, not yours or the purposed level. This is why I suggest you wait till you’re level 50 and beat the game, since it makes every enemy level 50 and makes it so you can’t get a drop lower than level like 47. (might even be higher like 49)

October 26, 2012 at 3:18 AMThank you for the video. Maybe it is differen on the Xbox but the sand worms continuously spawn up to like five at a time and it seems like every time I fight him the acid only hurts his health instead of his shield. Also what seild are you using? The bee?
Grant Gaines (大将)
October 26, 2012 at 3:28 AM@ Jon
They do on the PS3 too, but if he can’t see you, then the game just “stops” (Single Player Only). If you move out from that spot, like 5 worms will pop out and he will attack.
You need him to “suck up” the acid by standing in the geyser. Failing to do so will cause him to lose life, but also fill up the place killing you at some point.
Yes it’s the bee, but any shield will work. The worms have a lot of life, so I was trying to make it easier for people. I could have just pulled out the BM and 1 hit them, but that doesn’t help anyone.

October 26, 2012 at 3:31 AMOk thank you again. This has truly helped!

October 29, 2012 at 7:12 PMSo i haven’t even been playing nearly enough as i should be, Should i focus on first beating the game and leveling up my character before i even worry about the legendary weapons?

The guide covers this question in decent detail.

November 15, 2012 at 12:35 PMHey im having some serious issues getting a lvl 50 conference call to drop. i have a lvl 30 one on the same account and was wondering if that would prevent another from dropping? Or should i just keep plugging away at it and hope for the best?
Grant Gaines (大将)
November 15, 2012 at 12:47 PM@ Chaosroulette
Doesn’t make a difference, but you have to remember that these are rare drops. You only have around a 1% chance of getting a legendary drop, so it should take a few attempts.

November 15, 2012 at 1:06 PMAlso it doeant appear as if the lower lvl areas in my game have scaled up since i defeated the warrior on tvhm. what can i do to rectify this?

December 3, 2012 at 6:18 PM@ Grant, do you need DLC to fight Terramorphos?
Grant Gaines (大将)
December 3, 2012 at 10:51 PM@ Sean
Terra and Verm are default bosses, which are included with the vanilla game. You unlock the ability to fight Terra after beating the game and can fight Verm by letting Varkid evolve.

December 11, 2012 at 12:30 PMcould you help with getting verm to spawn? or at least give me some tips. psn: smartassemperor
and do you know if verm or hyperious (sry if i mispelled it) drops any legendary weapons?
Grant Gaines (大将)
December 11, 2012 at 3:20 PM@ John
I didn’t post a guide for it, since it’s like saying you have a better chance of getting a legendary weapon if you’re wearing a golden colored shirt. There is a THEORY that wearing the Blood of Terra and Hide of Terra makes the Varkid evolve faster, though the red text is also believed to be nothing more than a poem. Another THEORY is that he will only spawn with more people, which appears to be true. I’ve summoned Verm in 10 minutes with 4 people in the room, but I’ve also failed to spawn him after an hour in another room. I sincerely believe that every Varkid spawns with a set “evolve” pattern. By this I mean every varkid is set to “max out” at some point, so 1 varkid might stop at Badass and another at Ultimate, it’s all impossible to tell and purely based off luck.
Verm has like 15 legendary items attached to him, so he’s pretty important if you want any of them. 5 of them are head pieces, 5 of them are the legendary class mods, the Norfleet (rocket), Surprise Package (I think thats it and it’s a grenade) are said to come from him. I believe he has other legendary items, but the Norfleet is the only one people care about. Hyperious also drops legendary weapons, but it’s stuff you can get elsewhere for less work.

January 11, 2013 at 1:48 AMgreat guide. question, you would go after the legendary terra mods before the bee? seems like the bee would help :3
also in the dlc they gave us another invincible. Pete the invincible. in the torgue package. might want to check it out. I had the +5% rare drops thing on and I got nothing orange, so it may just be another worthless boss.
Grant Gaines (大将)
January 11, 2013 at 2:06 AM@ Scottyl33t
Well you have to remember that Terra drops a class mod every time, so there isn’t much luck involved. For that reason alone I suggest getting that first, though you can go about it however you want.
The DLC bosses have better rates (according to everything I’ve heard), but they don’t offer anything unique and are harder to kill than anything in the base game. They also have a 1 day lock, so I didn’t bother expanding the guide to include them.
Scottyl33t
January 11, 2013 at 5:22 PMAhh. see I didn’t know that about dlc bosses. I spent like an hour trying to kill pete and was thoroughly disappointed in the loot.
