Many people believed Microsoft would name its next console simply Xbox 720. According to ThisisXbox, an insider source suggests the name could be Xbox 8 instead.
A number of several different reasons have been played out as to why the number “8” is so special. The next generation of consoles will enter its 8th generation. We are currently in the 7th generation of console gaming.
The other reasons are Microsoft related since Windows 8 is out later this year and Windows Phone 8 is planned for later this year also. The next Xbox might share common features with Windows 8 when it arrives.
Hopefully Microsoft can either confirm or deny this rumor at E3 or later this year.

If I wasn’t clear: Meaning: the console can’t bear an “8” when the other stuff will be going “9” way before an xbox 1080. Get it? So it’s going to be either Xbox 720 or a name which shows what the console has become: a forever up-gradable machine. Yep, no more new consoles after the next one. It is going into the cloud direction soon, and gaming will be only in the cloud. (But I’m skeptic myself on my last statement)
