According to Sony’s CEO, Kaz Hirai, the PlayStation Vita has sold 1.8 million units worldwide, which was stated during the fiscal earnings call earlier this week.
According to Kaz, the 1.8 million units is a “good start”. While the Japanese consumers aren’t digging the PS Vita, Kaz thinks that in order to improve sales, “we have to reinforce the software area in order to improve the business, that is the basic line.”
I must admit, the PlayStation Vita is a good system and shows a lot of potential. However, sales aren’t as strong as expected it to be due to the lack of quality games to motivate a purchase. Hopefully when titles like Call of Duty hits the handheld later this year, the Vita will be selling like hotcakes. However, it’s hard to predict the future of the PlayStation Vita as of this moment.
