March 6, 2012 at 3:42 PMMass Effect combines the Shooter genre with the RPG genre. For me I usually find action RPG (non-turn based) to be more fun. Mass Effect does this and it has a great story too.

March 6, 2012 at 3:43 PMIt’s just a good game. Probably the blend of decent shooter and decent RPG.

March 6, 2012 at 3:45 PMMass Effect is an amazing game because its so incredibly unique. It brings RPG’s to the next level by also combining the element of FPS’s. Mass Effect is probably one of the first games ever to incorporate decisions that move on to the next game, so playing Mass Effect from beginning to end is pretty much essential. Unlike most games were your decisions aren’t really carried over nor make any big impact, decisions in Mass Effect provide a core point to why its amazing. Playing as commander Sheppard you feel like you actually are a commander that everything depends on .It’s story is on an epic scale right up there with Star Wars. I’ll always love the Mass Effect series for introducing me to rich characters and species who’re so alien are they’re so human at the same time. The Mass Effect series will always have a place in the heart of many gamers and years from now it won’t be just some “old” game, it’ll be a classical masterpiece….kind of like the mona lisa is a classical masterpiece.

March 6, 2012 at 3:58 PMI like the fact that there is so many diverse characters that you can interact with, as well as traveling around the milky way and exploring planets. The fighting is sweet as well.

March 6, 2012 at 4:19 PMMass Effect strings together RPG elements with game-altering choices and Action/Shooter elements that impress. The recipe can be hard to mix, but Mass Effect does it right.

March 6, 2012 at 4:25 PMMass Effect is just a great game…its like the star wars of modern gaming
the universe within the story is insanely expansive, and it has so many different races, it really immerses you into it’s world

March 6, 2012 at 4:25 PMI really love the emotional twists on the game. I feel like everything is better in this, and took everything that was great in 2, and even made it better.

March 6, 2012 at 4:42 PMI LOVE MASS EFFECT BECAUSE IT IS SOO AMAZING AND CAPTURES EVERYTHING A GAME SHOULD. GAMEPLAY, STORY, MUSIC , SETTING.

March 6, 2012 at 4:47 PMMass Effect is a great combination of both shooter and RPG. The games offers up so much, including good gameplay, a great story, and a fitting soundtrack. It all comes together so perfectly, and very few games get all three of those right. It’s also just very fun to play, and gives a good challenge on the higher difficulties. Mass Effect is great because of all of those things, and more, and that’s why the games are among my favorites.

March 6, 2012 at 4:55 PMWhat I like about Mass Effect… well, a lot of things really. It’s a very rich science fiction narrative where every choice you make has a lasting impact in each new entry of the franchise. You as the player have full control and free reign of how you see Commander Shepard: you can have him be a noble Paragon, a ruthless Renegade, or perhaps a mix of both. Shepard’s squad mates all have their reasons for helping and ultimately forge strong bonds/friendships with him, ready to help in through thick and thin even as the galaxy faces oblivion. The various alien species and planets stray from stereotypical imagery of extraterrestrials, showing great creativity and originality behind each alien race. The game itself is an excellent blend of RPG and shooter elements, serving as an excellent example of how to do it just right.
In the end, it’s just a fantastic game. Simple as that.

I loved Mass Effect 1 & 2 because of how well it represents its own universe. I find it amazing how Bioware made up their own Science Fiction perspective of how the universe would be like in the future. The way they represented the new species, technology, and basically the game itself just amazed me!
The stories for both games are excellent and I do find it unbelievable that they were able to build up a well structured story for the game. Every event and situation that took place in both games were believable and realistic (Ex.If you bring Legion to recruit Tali, Tali immediately shoots him once they meet her at that research dig site) Characters felt real as well and I was excited to hear one of my crew member’s reaction to a recent event. The information given to the player about the surroundings of this new world (Ex.Legion’s explanations of the Geth to Shepard) is very comprehensive and it yet again amazes me how detailed the game is. The whole plot has been built up very well and I am VERY excited to see how it ends in the third game.
As far as combat goes, it started off very weak in ME1. I rarely used biotic powers throughout the game and mostly use firepower to take down enemies. In ME2, I was satisfied with the combat updates and found that powers such as Overload and Shockwave were necessary to get out of some firefights. After playing the demo, I felt that Bioware has stepped up the combat system to its greatest. It felt smooth and easy to take down any enemy.
In conclusion, Mass Effect is very unique compared to other video games. Its excellent storyline and engrossing content makes me want to play the games.

March 6, 2012 at 6:22 PMME is not a game, it’s an experience. I love that the games let you carry over choices from previous games, it gives you a sense of finality in how you choose to pursue your goals, knowing that once you do something it can’t never be taken back, just as in reality. Also the massive scope of the universe itself, the different species, the huge range of environments, and best of all, the rich back story, make it wonderful for anyone who grew up watching Star Wars or Star Stek; it’s like a Sci-Fi nerd’s wet dream crammed into a a set of discs.

March 6, 2012 at 6:33 PMThe Mass Effect series combines aspects of great gaming: fast-paced action, rpg elements and an epic sci-fi story you can really immerse yourself in.
Cudos to Bioware and EA for thier ingenuity, creativity and knowledge of how to make an amazing game.
Just bought the 3rd installment and can’t wait to play!

March 6, 2012 at 6:33 PMI think Mass Effect is such an amazing game because it is the best hybrid of both of my favorite game genres. I love Western RPG and I love shooters. Mass Effect blends them better then the sum of their parts and does it with one of the best/richest stories in this generation. A classic series and will go down as one of the best of all time!

I Think Mass Effect is an amazing game because the story in the game is interesting and grips people making them want to play more . The story is also long with different story lines depending on the choices you make throughout the game that continues onto the next mass effect game . There is so much action in the game which is fun and you have the option to be Shepard or create and customize your character . Mass Effect 3 new multiplayer feature is amazing cause now you can play with your friends and destroy enemies etc. Thanks for the giveaway :) .

I love the Story of all three games and the gameplay is fantastic! All in all one of the best franchises ever! And a shout out to one of my favorite game companies BioWare great job!
PS: Love the site, keep up the great work!

March 6, 2012 at 9:26 PMI love mass effect for the fact that its is one of the first games that truly has a good and evil system that works and actually means it when your choices can come back to bite you in the ass. Also you can mix between the 2 and not get a crap ending as most other games would have it. I love it for the fact that right now I can pop in the first 2, play through those and have something completely different!

March 6, 2012 at 10:10 PMMass Effect easily has one of the greatest stories of any RPG (whether or not it is one is debatable). I have been a longtime fan of Bioware’s RPGs, ever since Baldur’s Gate. I played Knights of the Old Republic through at least a dozen times, just to play through every possible way I could. This series easily triumphs the rest. I am only 8 hours into Mass Effect 3 right now, but I’m loving every minute of it. The subtle plot twists, sneak attacks, and emotional moments have captivated me yet again. Bioware has outdone itself this time.

March 6, 2012 at 11:54 PMthe amazing thing about ME is that it allows us to dream of a world where we can travel through space and interact with different races. It has a really amazing story and characters that are very memorable like tali and garrus. Besides what other series lets you punch a reporter or push a enemy through a window.

March 7, 2012 at 12:42 AMI love the Mass effect series because the first and sometimes second time through. They keep throwing curve balls the at the time are kind of like OMG I can’t believe that. But later it becomes apparent it was for a reason. Much like Horizon in ME2. I love the series for the variety of play style and longevity and the real weight of the story and characters. Fully articulated and believable.

March 7, 2012 at 1:54 AMI simply love this game! I have never been into RPGs IN MY LIFE(only others would be Zelda OoT and Zelda TW) but I LOVE how you can customize and upgrade EVERYTHING. And how you ca pick your team and give them orders, love it. It really has changed my view on gaming and has gotten me to expand my gaming genres. Shepard is amazing, I love all the actors they pick, but I’d say the thing I like best about ME3 overall, would have to be the customizing/upgrading of everything. and compaired to ME2, this is by FAR the best I’ve seen as far as upgrades, customization goes. Lol I’m sure a few 1,000 will comment and most of which will say the same as me. But I just love ME games way too much not to leave a comment. Good luck to everyone who entered this contest, and thank you justpushstart.com for making the contest!! Now everyone go pick your team and kill some Reapers lol!!!!!!

March 7, 2012 at 2:36 AMWell i like mass effect for the decicions making because one decicion can have big consequences is not only your squadmate but even in the storyline and you can mod your weapons you can change your armor you can create your own character from scratch you can choose your own class well its all fun and smart playing

March 7, 2012 at 4:39 AMMass effect is the best game ever the first time I bought mass effect it didn’t seem like a great game due to the clunky controls, menu system, and characters just thrown at you but it was good in it’s own right but after mass affect 2 my mind was blown and now with mass effect 3 they added the good stuff from mass effect 1 and more!!

March 7, 2012 at 12:07 PMI think Mass Effect is such an amazing game because it redefines its genre. It is the first really good sci-fi rpg that I can think of. Its also a game that continues to improve with each iteration. I’ve been playing Mass Effect since the first one came out and the franchise just keeps getting better, combat and story wise. I also think it’s really cool that I can import my saves into each new game, it really helps to tie all the games together. Finally, I just love Bioware rpgs. I’ve been playing them since KOTOR. I loved Jade Empire. Mass Effect took all the good stuff from those series and ran with it. Truly an amazing series.
Dustie
March 7, 2012 at 1:24 PMMass Effect has a very impressive virgin lore and amazingly fleshed out characters. It’s one of the few games that offers choices and consequences, which immerses you into the world and creates a deep bond between you and Shepard.

March 7, 2012 at 1:27 PMThanks for the contest!
So far, ME3 has been every bit the epic conclusion that I had hoped for to one of the greatest video game franchises in memory. ME1 and ME2 remain some of my favorite (if not THE favorite) games of all time, and ME3 has truly built on that legacy.
Some lament at the direction that Bioware took with the series, but personally I think they did everything just right. I’m hoping to get the DLC to make my ME3 experience that much more complete.

March 7, 2012 at 1:28 PMThe story is what did it for me. It has similarities to other scifi epics, but stand on its own.

March 7, 2012 at 1:53 PMLiked on fb + followed on twitter.
Mass Effect was my first Xbox 360 game. Honestly, this game was one of the reasons I got a 360 over a PS3. What I liked most about the original game was the story, the characters, and the decisions you had to make. Planet exploration was also really enjoyable for me even though I know everyone on the internet hated it for some reason lol.
Mass Effect 2 improved upon the former by making gameplay smoother and more fun and fleshing out characters more. From what I’ve played of ME3, it look seven more badass and gameplay looks even more fluid.

March 7, 2012 at 4:01 PMThe Characters in Mass Effect are phenomenal. I remember being amazed with how realistic all the characters were when I interacted with them. I always thought of video game characters as being overly dramatic and unrealistic in their demeanor. When I play Mass Effect, I feel like I’m interacting with real people.

March 7, 2012 at 6:10 PMThis is game is like an epic movie trilogy only you get to decide what happens. Its an epic feeling to know that your past decisions both good and bad shape the way the story unfolds. Your playthrough of the Mass Effect series is like your own personal story. Mass Effect is one of the best and premier examples of this kind of immersive gameplay. This is what games should inspire to be, create a universe, let the player loose in it so that the player can shape his own story. In a word, its EPIC!

March 8, 2012 at 5:07 PMIt’s a near-perfect culmination of narrative, across-the-universe shooting down baddies, and sci-fi lore in one little package(3 games = Commander Shepard’s story). It has MASSive appeal and it’s EFFECT is infinite across many galaxies(passing through mass effect relays of course).

March 12, 2012 at 10:45 PMI love Mass Effect for 2 reasons: being able to keep my character across 3 entire games is simply awesome. I’ve played so many RPGs where I wish I could have a _literal_ “New Game+” and Mass Effect has done that twice.
I also love how Shepard is kind of a jerk, regardless of whether you choose Paragon or Renegade. He has to get the job DONE. Sometimes morality is not simply good or bad, and while the Paragon/Renegade system is a great gameplay mechanic, they don’t force the polarity of it into the story as much as other, similar systems. Shepard will tell someone to shut up, or he will tell someone to shut up with a gun to their head. Neither represents the typical goody two shoes heroes of most games.

March 13, 2012 at 10:42 AMMass Effect is awesome because it is the first time as a gamer that you can mold the story with the decisions you make, carrying the consequences into the next game. There are 1000 different variables with the choices you make spanning ME1 and 2.

March 13, 2012 at 12:23 PMMass Effect 3 is an amazing game because it is the first series to cascade your choices from it’s previous titles into the game’s sequels. There are 1000 different variables with the choices you choose to make throughout ME1, ME2 and ME3.
Mass Effect has truly revolutionized gaming as one of the only titles to have incorporated the choices you make in the overall outcome of the story in such a way that you have a personal connection to the characters and their environment.
