Brandon Laurino, Executive Producer of Dust 514, has made an announcement regarding 2 new modes for the game that will be added after launch. The first mode is a PvE survival mode that will have players teaming up to defend a base from rogue drones and serves as the game’s co-op hoard mode. It was not announced whether or not the mode will be released at launch or after, but it will be released in 2012.
The second mode is the Gladiator Arenas that will support capture the flag, deathmatches, and custom matches. Players from both Dust 514 and Eve Online will be able to spectate and bet on the matches to make for the best e-sport experience possible. This mode will act as an expansion and will be available sometime in 2013. The mode will add hostile environments and will also introduce MTACs (Mechanized Torso-Actuated Chassis), these are exoskeleton suits that are used for mining and are armed with a mining laser.
Dust 514 will release sometime during the summer and will be free to play for those who can’t afford to pay for a subscription. There will also be an app available for the Vita called Dust 514: Neocom and will include networking features like chat, mail, market, the star map, selecting skills to level up and fitting vehicles.
