Sales data in Japan have been released via Media Create and the PS Vita saw a slight increase in sales thanks to a new game that debuted this week.
Thanks to the release of Tales of Innocence R, the PS Vita sold 18,942 units this week. That does not sound like much but it’s better than the meagre 15,219 units it sold the previous week. Overall, the PS Vita came third on the hardware charts behind the PS3 and 3DS.
Tales of Innocence R came third in the software charts selling an impressive 54,853 copies. The game trailed behind Resident Evil Revelations and Armored Core V.
This just proves that the PS Vita may sell more units if it’s backed up by popular software.

February 1, 2012 at 5:17 PMIt’s all because the Japanese consumers saw something they are familiar with and like. Uncharted is huge here in the West but not so much so in Japan. If they released a monster hunter game for the Vita, you’ll see the units sold soar through the sky.
That is one of the reasons I think the PSP is still strong out due games they’re familiar with.
