Guild Wars 2, a sequel to the 2005 MMO, is expanding past its original PC-exclusivity. Although there have been discussions in the past regarding a console version, NCsoft and ArenaNet officially announced today that Guild Wars 2 will be making its way to consoles in the future.
Here’s what NCsoft had to say after the reveal:
“For the console game – when it comes to Guild Wars 2 – as we have announced already, we are in the preparation stage. And also, for other titles we are in the preparation stage, but nothing has been finalized yet for me to make specific comments now.”
It was stated that the Guild Wars 2 on consoles would most likely be available after the PC launch. For non-PC owners, this news should be very exciting as console MMOs are a rare breed. Also, it would be interesting to see the Wii U have an MMO in its lineup at or near launch.
