That MMO right up there? Dark Millennium Online? Yeah, I thought it looked cool too. Well, apparently it’s been canceled.
THQ, a publisher who’s overall quality of released games seems to run the gamut from intensely awesome to what-could-have-possibly-went-so-wrong, has not been doing so well. The creators of the psychotic and unapologetic Saints Row series, owners of the Red Faction name and namely, the creators of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, a recent third-person shooter.
An MMO had been planned to further flesh out the storied Warhammer 40K universe, but due to the team’s financial troubles, it appears that the game has found its way to the chopping block. Rumors have been flooding that THQ could go under, but we’ll have to see how the tide turns.
THQ has stated that the rumors of its going under are untrue, but cryptically, while celebrating its advancing release schedule, has stated that they have “not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO.”
This is particularly interesting when contrasted with the fairly positive tone of THQ’s other comments.
