Blizzard Admits To Mistake, Decides To Fix It

Anyone who’s followed this site for any period of time may notice a reverence for humble developers. Activision/Blizzard are NOT humble developers, so a completely one-on-one with the fanbase is both not expected and impossible.

That said, a big name like Blizzard admitting fault is rare and extremely welcome, especially when it’s something as non-explosive as a game’s general progression. The biggest complaint so far about Cataclysm is its lack of emphasis on world exploration, essentially becoming a linear game.

Nik Gianozakos of Blizzard had this to say on an official forum…

“That was an error we made with the design of Cataclysm, but getting players invested in the world again is something we’re interested in addressing with Mists.”

And a developer learning from mistake is something that should be intensely encouraged in today’s industry. It looks like the world is going to be fleshed out to a greater degree in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria.
