Skyward Sword – Demon Lord Ghirahim Part 2 Boss Guide

Demon Lord Ghirahim – Second Encounter

Upon reaching the end of the Fire Temple, Demon Lord Ghirahim confronts Link for a second time. If you recall the first Ghirahim encounter, you will quickly notice that this time around Ghirahim has cranked things up a notch. He still has two phases, and the easiest way to defeat him is still by utilizing Link’s Shield Bash.

Phase 1:
Ghirahim wastes no time and summons two flying daggers in a vertical formation immediately. Link must slash between the two daggers in order to deal damage to Ghirahim but in order to avoid having Ghirahim catch his sword Link must feign his attacks. In other words, hold Link’s sword out to either the right or left so that Ghirahim will attempt to catch the sword coming from that direction and quickly attack from the opposite side.

After each successful set of attacks, Ghirahim will jump back and send the daggers at Link. Simply Shield Bash them back at the demented demon or dodge to the side to avoid taking damage. After striking Ghirahim twice, he will then summon four flying daggers instead of the two; these daggers also change orientation from time to time so be patient and wait for the right moment to strike. Other than that, simply continue with the previous strategy and after another two successful set of attacks Ghirahim will two swords signaling the start of Phase 2.

Phase 2:
Once Ghirahim has summoned his swords, a number of new attacks are unlocked. He can teleport upward and attempt a downward strike on Link with both of his swords; dodging this attack leaves the Demon Lord susceptible to attack for a brief moment. Ghirahim can also summon a number of daggers to surround Link in a number of patterns, all of which correspond with one of Link’s attacks. Simply perform the proper attack (circular slash, back-flip slash, etc.) to rid Link of the dangerous daggers.

Ghirahim will still summon daggers to throw at Link, which can avoid by dodging, shield bashing, or batting them back using his sword. The ability to teleport behind Link is also another attack in Ghirahim’s bag of tricks but this time, he will hold his swords in a manner that will only allow attacks to strike him from a specific direction. Beware though, if your strike Ghirahim incorrectly here, he will instantly counterattack. After landing seven more attacks, the battle will end with Ghirahim running away only to come back and haunt you another day.
