Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Is NOT Part Of The Metal Gear Solid Franchise

As we’ve already reported, Platinum Games is going to be the development team taking over Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

However, they’d like to make it very clear, it is NOT a proper sequel to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, just as in its own way, Metal Gear Solid is not a part of the original Metal Gear franchise.

While the idea of starting a new series is an exciting one, the story behind it is an interesting one.

Kojima Productions had originally created the framework for Metal Gear Rising as “A Game Where You Can Chop Up Anything” and it was made. When that was completed, Kojima’s studio didn’t know how to finish it, understanding that this basis was not enough to make an entire game.

Then Platinum Games came over.

Creator of Bayonetta and Vanquish, formerly Clover Studios, creator of Okami and Viewtiful Joe, they’ve got an interesting and colorful track record behind them. Taking over, redoing the story and making it distinctively Platinum seems to be the order of the day, so we can look forward to that as a whole.
