Blizzard announced a new system for players to identify and communicate on their Battle.net service called BattleTags. BattleTags are a player-chosen nickname, which you will use throughout Battle.net, Blizzard’s forums, websites and games. The system promises to be somewhat like the infamous Real ID system, but this time, BattleTags will let the players have a new way to manage their profiles and socialize.
Right now, the only way to test BattleTags is through the Diablo III Beta Test, so we’re sorry to say that if you don’t have the beta, you’re out of luck. If you are one of the Diablo III Beta Testers though, let me tell you that all characters have been wiped (again), and Blizzard will ask you to create a BattleTag for use in the beta. You won’t be able to log in to the beta test servers without it.
If you would like to get your BattleTag today just for the sake of having the nickname you want before it’s taken, click here to create your BattleTag.
