Sony Would Consider Releasing The PlayStation 4 Much Later Than The Next Xbox “Undesirable”

Jim Ryan the PlayStation Europe boss has recently commented that it would be “undesirable” to launch the PlayStation 4 much later than the competition.

Jim Ryan who became the head of SCEE over the summer went onto say that “we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition”. Maybe this is as a result to the massive advantage which the Xbox 360 seemed to gain due to being out for over a year prior to the PS3’s release.

Going on the defensive he later added that “If you look at PlayStation 2, now in excess of 150m units installed globally, a huge majority of that was done at price points of £120 or lower. We’ve only just hit £199 in the UK [For the PS3], so clearly there’s a considerable untapped part of the market there.”

  1. I totally agree. And so should MS. Console prices have gone down pretty low lately. Of course it would not hurt to have prototypes of their next big things ready in case if sales start to go bad. Until then there’s no point of going to next gen at all… Wii is a pure example of when the console should be replaced with it’s follow up..
