Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be using the Online Game Pass, a pass designed to keep pesky after-market buyers off of their network. The system usually goes as follows.
Those who buy the game new receive a small passcode inside the manual or next to it, and to get onto the network, they have to use the passcode, which becomes invalidated after its first use. That player is permanently allowed to play the game online.
Should you make the mistake of buying the game used, then to get onto the network, you must pay ten or more US dollars to be allowed onto the network at all. The system had been utilized by Mortal Kombat, unsuccessfully by Driver: San Francisco and apparently Nathan Drake is jumping onto the Online Pass train, not the first train he’s jumped onto, and so is every other first-party Sony game to be released from here on out.
For those still interested, fans can look forward to Uncharted 3 on November 1st.
