Producer over at DICE, Patrick Liu, has said in a recent interview that Mirror’s Edge 2 is a definite possibility. Fans of the first-person-platforming game were dismayed in February this year to hear that EA had rejected a prototype to what would have been Mirror’s Edge 2. However, EA remained adamant that they saw the Mirrors Edge brand as important to their portfolio. Since then we’ve heard nothing concrete about the possibility of a second game – until now.
Speaking in an interview with Spong, Liu expressed enthusiasm about the Mirror’s Edge property, lending credence to hopes that a Mirror’s Edge 2 is still coming.
“We see that there’s a huge fan following, it’s almost like a cult! And we know what strengths we had, and what weaknesses we had in that game. If we were to release a new game, we’d know what to improve and how to reach a broader audience. So I definitely think there’s a market there.”
Would you be excited about Mirror’s Edge 2? Surely a sequel to such a unique genre-blending kind of game could only build on the foundations that its successor had already laid down.
