Mario Kart DS may have introduced limited online play to the Mario Kart series, but gamers looking to get a more versatile online experience on the go can look forward to Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS, now with some pretty neat community and social features.
Among the new features are clans, groups, ghosts and leaderboards, all shareable with your 3DS friends and customisable so you can cut out those pesky, victory-snatching blue shells if you wish.
You will reportedly be able to access your Mario Kart 7 stats without even booting up the game, checking them instead via the new Mario Kart 7 application from the 3DS’ home screen. Win/loss ratio, times and coins collected will be among the stats, and you’ll also be able to download ghosts from your friends or from world-wide leaderboards. If chasing down ethreal mimicry’s of your favourite Mario characters sounds at all appealing then Mario Kart 7 may well be right up your alley.
Mario Kart 7 is currently slated for an early December release, launching on the 2nd of the month.
