It seems that Microsoft never stops trying to find new ways to innovate with their technology. A brand new technology which uses the Kinect and a projector to create a touch screen menu on any surface, has been revealed to be in the works by Microsoft Research.
The new “OmniTouch” system is still very early in its development, but as you can see in the video below, it allows a virtual touch screen menu to be placed anywhere including moving objects; the screen will automatically follow the moving object. Microsoft Research claims that the OmniTouch is already just as accurate as touch screens found in today’s mainstream devices; obviously the packaging is what needs to be worked on next because as of right now, it’s basically a Kinect sensor strapped to your shoulder.
