Karl Magnus Troedsson, the General Manager at DICE, has lately commented on how the Battlefield 3 Open Beta is helping DICE and also that it is not truly representative of Battlefield 3.
Troedsson firstly explained that “the Open Beta is helping us shape a fantastic final game” with fans feedback being taken into account and being implemented into the final game. He then explained that the biggest reason behind the Open Beta was “to stress test our [DICE’s] servers and back end.”
Troedsson then went onto clarify that “the Battlefield 3 Open Beta is based on software that is more than one month old. Just like normal procedure when releasing a game, the Open Beta has had long lead times due to testing, certification, and setting up. This means that the code you are now playing is actually quite early and not representative of the final game.”
