One of the best games released this year, Batman: Arkham City, has managed to sell 2 million copies in its first week.
The figures come courtesy from the LA Times that notes that 4.6 million copies of the game were shipped. Batman: Arkham City should be on track to outsell its predecessor (Arkham Asylum), which sold 4.3 million copies thus far since it was released back in 2009.
The 2 million sales figures will only continue to grow. Considering the fact the PC version of the game isn’t even out yet. Not to mention the game has received universal acclaim and has been considered to be the best game of 2011. Just Push Start reviewed the game which it received a perfect 5 stars.
Rocksteady game director Sefton Hill, says ” The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City, The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community.”
The LA Times didn’t give an indication how many copies of Batman: Arkham City were sold from each platform. I guess it’s safe to say both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game sold around 1 million copies each.
