According to a report from Eurogamer, Sony will only “seriously consider” releasing the PS4 until game developers are unable to improve on the games they make currently on the PS3.
Sony Worldwide Studios chief, Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer:
“Looking at the platform cycle, when the platform becomes something game developers are not able to improve their creations with, that’s the time we have to really seriously consider shifting to the next generation.”
With Nintendo’s Wii U releasing sometime next year and rumors of Microsoft’s next console releasing in 2013, it will be interesting to see if Yoshida stays true to his word.
Unless of course, Sony is working on the PS4 as we speak and want to keep it a secret…
