SCEA revealed today that a new firmware for the PS3 is coming (v 3.70) and will include enhancements for PlayStation Plus subscribers and 3D playback.
When the 3.70 firmware releases sometime tonight, players can expect the following updates to be added in their console:
– Automatic Online Game Save Back Up
Similar to the Automatic Download offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers, players can now automatically save their Saved Data to the Cloud. At the time where the players start the game, a prompt will be asked whether they wish to enable the automatic online game save.
– Auto Trophy Sync
The trophies will now automatically sync at a time of the Auto Download feature is happening.
– Recommend Items
On the PlayStation Store, players can now recommend items they purchased.
– New Channels
Since the PS3 have Hulu Plus, Netflix, and VUDU Services, a dedicated channel will be available on the XMB.
As for the 3D updates;
-3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray
– DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
– 3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.
