Since its downtime last Wednesday, April 20th, PlayStation Network services including Qoricity was taken offline. Today, Sony finally revealed the reason for the mysterious “downtime” of the PlayStation Network.
For those hoping for the servers to be back up, I am sad to report that the servers are still down. According to Sony, PlayStation Network received an external attack to its server that made the company to take it offline to do further investigations. At the time of this writing, the PlayStation Network is still down and for those trying to access it, you will receive an “undergoing maintenance” message.
Here’s an official statement that Sony revealed today. With the Easter weekend going on, the earliest we can see the servers back and running is Monday.
An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.

April 24, 2011 at 12:32 PMThis is hilarious. Sony deserves this for making PS3 such a piece of crap since its launch. This is payback for getting rid of Backwards compatibility, losing exclusives, and removing LINUX.
SCREW SONY I’M GLAD THEY FINALLY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED!

April 24, 2011 at 9:54 PMThe reason sony gets hacked is because they are trying to be unhackable they shouldn’t say they can’t be hacked it just makes people try harder to hack the system.
