Kotaku has reported that according to “industry sources” we may not see the next generation of consoles until 2014.
With Nintendo rumored to release its new console by next year, it looks as if both Microsoft and Sony feel that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 still have a few more years left in the tank.
Sony still wants to build a strong user base in North America and while Microsoft feels that game developers have yet to “max out” the Xbox 360.
Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have shipped over 50 million units worldwide so it kind of makes sense that both companies don’t rush into the next generation so quickly by abandoning such a larger user base.
