EA busted out some pretty big news today for all you ME fans out there. They flushed the sequel. EA’s Patrick Soderlund stated in an interview with Press 2 Play that he held the series very close to his heart yet he also had to acknowledge the poor sales of the original. The following is an excerpt from the interview:
‘EA was shown a prototype, but declined with askance,’ says Press 2 Play’s report (in Swedish). ‘The project has been stopped – involved parties at DICE are working on something else now.’
According to Eurogamer, DICE had a small team working on the sequel to 2008’s Mirror’s Edge that started production around November of last year. EA also confirmed way back in 2008 that it had sequels planned for both Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge despite the poor sales that they both achieved.
