We have seen many great releases for the XBOX 360, PS3 and PC during 2010. After the much awaited releases of 2010 such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Fallout: New Vegas and Halo Reach here is Just Push Start’s top 5 games to look forward to in 2011:
.
5. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
The legend continues in the newest addition to The Legend of Zelda series; Skyward Sword. Skyward Sword has a unique style of graphics which intertwine Twilight Princess and Wind Waker graphics giving the game an “impressionist art” vibe inspired by Paul Cézanne. It is said to be a prequel, in the storyline, to Ocarina of Time. The controls will be revised and Wii-motion Plus will play a part in making sword to Wii remote “one to one”. Battles between monsters will now involve more skill as the direction that the enemies are hit in will be a factor during battle too and dungeons will be harder to get lost in.
All the nostalgic weapons such as the bow, bombs and slingshot will return as well as new weapons such as the whip and flying beetle. A highly recommended buy for any Wii owners and Zelda fans as well as first time Zelda buyers.
4. Dead Space 2 (PS3/XBOX 360/PC)
Isaac Clarke returns now on board the Sprawl; locked up in a mental institute. Suffering from dementia and illusions of his dead girlfriend he must save as many people as possible on his way to a mysterious doctor who can rid him of his life-threatening illness. Players are pit against the Necromorph again and it is also shown that a few new Necromorphs will be attacking Isaac. Gameplay will be more varied than Dead Space with tasks such as hacking terminals, outrunning the government and destroying Necromorph infections in certain areas. New elements will also be included such as Telekinesis impalement as well as an enhanced version of zero gravity gameplay which was seen in Dead Space.
A multiplayer beta was also released which sees humans carrying out objectives while other players play as the Necromorph and try to sabotage the objectives being carried out. Dead Space 2 looks to be a great game, improving drastically in every aspect from the original Dead Space.
3. LittleBigPlanet 2 (PS3)
If user generated content is what your after then LBP2 is certainly one game you should buy. LBP2 sees the return of your Sackboy or Sackgirl (Sackperson for the confused) with brand new ideas behind level creation. Players will be able to play in the usual three layer 2.5D platform layout as well as puzzle, roleplay and racing modes. The storyline continues from LBP which sees The Alliance fighting against The Negativitron . Players will be able to make their own cutscenes and music.
2. Metal Gear Solid: Rising (PS3/XBOX 360)
A spin-off from the Metal Gear Solid series. Players will control Raiden hacking and slashing their way through squadrons of soldiers which is atypical of Metal Gear play style. Not much is known about controls, yet, but from what was revealed we can see that Raiden’s blade can cut through a variety of surfaces such as stone pillars to cars and comically at the end watermelons. It was also revealed that Raiden can enter a “bullet-time” mode in which time slows down and the player can choose which limbs and areas of the enemy to cut. Great looking game, a must buy for all Metal Gear Solid fans.
1. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3)
Drake is back in the newest instalment of Uncharted. Not much has been revealed in terms of storyline; however we do know that Drake and mentor Victor Sullivan are back travelling the world in the sequel to Uncharted 3. Drake will be in search of the legendary lost city, the Iram of the Pillars and the plot is said to be based around the archaeological days of T.E Lawrance. The graphics seem to have a new shine to them yet still humble to the graphics of Uncharted 2 return in this brand new sequel. Much is to be expected from Uncharted 3; from new puzzles to new abilities in combat; not to mention the innovative storyline making Uncharted 3 a much awaited title.
While that concludes the top 5, honourable mentions go to Gears of War 3 and Portal 2. The number of great looking titles makes seem like it will be an amazing year to look forward to!

December 28, 2010 at 6:00 PMI definitely agree that for me the most anticipated game is going to be Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Played one and two and intend on buying and beating the third one as well! It must be done!
