According to BioWare’s latest podcast , Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 will be using the all-new Mass Effect 3 engine.
It was also announced that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 has gone gold. In theory, the use of the Mass Effect 3 engine means that the PS3 version will have improved graphics.
Here’s what producer, Jesse Houston had to say:
“We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 on PS3. So we took the content, the story, and all of the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2, and we put it into the Mass Effect 3 engine”.
Also from the podcast is that the controls have been updated to suit the PS3 controller, although you can choose to use the Xbox 360 control scheme if you want too.
Mass Effect 2 will have a playable demo on the PSN live on December 21st. The full game is scheduled for release on January 18 in North America and January 21 in Europe.
