One of the things that we love in Dragon Quest series are the level grinding. It is a hard thing to do as it takes a lot of time but there’s one way that gives player a boost in experience points; that is by killing the family of the Metal Slimes.
There are a total of five enemies that are part of the Metal Slime family. They are all scattered throughout Protectorate and by killing them, a huge amount of experience points they are rewarded. They are not easy to kill as some of these enemies flees. The best thing to do when a player spotted a Metal Slime is to cast a War Cry, or any other status based magic that will make them either sleep, or paralyze. It may or may not work but it’s worth a try.
Below are the locations of the enemies in the Metal Slim family. Good luck and happy hunting!
Metal Slime
Quarantomb & Pluvi Isle
Liquid Metal Slime
Bowhole
Metal King Slime
Tower of Nod
Platinum King Jewels
Can be found in various Grottos. *To find the grottos, the player must have a treasure map*
Metal Medley
The Magmaroo & Bad Cave

July 19, 2010 at 4:26 AMTypically they’re immune to magic. *Non-Magical* interrupts such as warcry do tend to work, however your best bet is to just use a crit-or-miss attack. Some of the weapons (spear and axe, for example) get them at 58 points. Other options are multi-hit attacks such as the 88 point Fan attack (Fan Dango or whatever), the 82ish point Minstrel attack (Have A Ball), and/or the early Claw attack. Metal Slash + a Falcon Sword (attacks twice) is also an option to do up to 4 damage a turn for free.
