This year at E3, one of the main focuses of Sony on the PlayStation 3 was promoting the upcoming PlayStation Move that is set to release this Fall. With games such as Resident Evil 5, and SOCOM 4 compatible to use with the PlayStation Move controller, does it really make the experience a lot better than using the DUALSHOCK 3 controller? I myself have tried both and here’s what I have to say.
At the show floor, there were PlayStation 3 games that could be used on both the MOVE and the DUALSHOCK 3 controller. The games were SOCOM 4, LittleBigPlanet 2, and of course the highly acclaimed Resident Evil 5. The first game that I played on the MOVE controller was SOCOM 4. Playing it at first will be awkward since you have to use both the sub controller and the wand. The sub controller is used to move the character while the the wand is the one where you will aim at the enemy forces when the center button of the wand is pressed. The precision and response of the wand is perfect but of course the player will have to sit up straight and make sure to stay still while playing because every action you do can interfere with the gameplay. As I played the game using the MOVE controller, I had to be focused and not move and inch while I played the game using both my hands.
As for using the DUALSHOCK 3 controller, you have more time to relax your hands and arms. There is no need to worry about getting an interference from the camera that tracks the movement. However, with the DUALSHOCK 3 controller, there is no fun and thrill that a player can experience. Using the standard DUALSHOCK 3 controller will not require any of the body movements and the player can choose to sit comfortably when playing. As when playing the game with the MOVE controller, the player must sit straight so that the the movement will be captured the right way. For Wii owners, this should be common knowledge.
Overall, if there is a game that is compatible on both the DUALSHOCK 3 and PlayStation Move controller, I’ll go with the use of the DUALSHOCK 3 because I feel more comfortable with it. Using the Move might be fun but having myself to focus and be serious at aiming and everything might strain my back one day. It’s really up to the players as to what they prefer. If they want a comfortable gameplay experience where they can just lay back, use the DUALSHOCK 3 controller. If the player has room and is up for some real action, use the MOVE by any means because that’s the only time you will be enjoying the intensity of games such as SOCOM 4 and Resident Evil 5.

June 20, 2010 at 4:57 PMThere’s a demo of Socom 4 on E3 Sony, where Move were played while sitting and the guy played well. You don’t have to sit up straight or stand up to play some of the games with Move especially Shooting games
Don’t judge it easily, when you probably only played it in less than 10 mins.
People need time to adjust with the new controller just like they did with the Dualshock controllers when they first picked it up.
And the next few years I’m sure there will be a bad ass hardcore player out there doing back flips while shooting with the Move controller with extreme precision. Who knows right? Time is what people need. And I can’t wait to get mine this September! :)
