Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker CODEC System Detailed

Some new and interesting details have been revealed regarding the use of the CODEC systems that will be used on Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.

First off the main thing about Peace Walker is that there will now be two types of CODEC systems used: Real Time CODEC and Briefing Files.

Real Time Codec pretty much works the way similar to previous Metal Gear Solid games albeit, you’re not transferred to a separate screen or HUD. So the information is sent out to you seamlessly while you play it mostly contain brief mission info. The main reason for this change is that the game is played in multiplayer as well as keeping the suspense of the game high. In Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Konami wanted to emaulate a real battle filed situation so there is no pausing to chat in this game. Everything you do is in real-time. Also of you choose to fully install the game messages are sent with voice overs, if not, then it’ll appear in text only.

Briefing Files are pretty much long pre-mission briefing conversations. You will hear them before you go onto each mission. As these conversation happen prior to your mission there is no need to worry of an enemy attacking you, so you can listen and hear them in peace. The information provided in the briefing files include many relevant information in regards to the story and your current mission.

You can choose to skip the briefing files and look at them later if you’re too keen to go into the mission.
