As you may already know several sites have reported that owners of non Slim PS3s have encountered various problems while playing their consoles.
Owners who have wanted to log on to the PlayStation Network have only seen a 8001050F error code. As well as problems playing games and some trophies data has been lost by some. Even gamers who play offline are having problems as the clock has been reverted back to January 1 2000. I’ve played offline for awhile and although I have not had problems with any trophies like some people the clock is still an issue for me. It never seems to stay on the exact date. Others have reported this to be a leap year of non leap year issue as the console thinks 2010 has February 29 when clearly the next leap year is not until 2012.
Sony have said it is working on the issue and is advising non Slim PS3 owners not to play on their consoles until the whole thing is fixed.
Update:
The whole thing has passed and all non Slim PS3s are working. It seems the problem really was the internal clock as mentioned above. Although some people have reported some lost trophies others have found no changes. The only thing that has changed was the clock which you can manually adjust yourself or set via the internet. In other words the ApocalyPS3 has officially ended and all PS3s should be working fine now.
