As reported earlier this week Austin Peay State University student David Scherer was attempting to break the record for “Longest Continuous Time Playing a Video Game”. The previous record was 40 hours and 20 minutes.
David has now broken that record while playing Grand Theft Auto IV. Although he was short of his original goal of playing for 72 hours he did manage to clock in an impressive time of 55 hours and 30 minutes. Scherer credited his athletic swimming background in which helped him achieve the record.
“Swimming is the best type of exercise you can get,” Scherer said after playing 48 hours. It is because of swimming that I’m able to do what I’m doing right now.”
He was doing the stunt in order to raise money to build a new pool for his swimming team.
