The rumored retail PS3 version of Marvel vs Capcom 2 has been confirmed. Back in June, rumors of a Gamestop exclusive retail pack for this digital rerelease began popping up. It was said the retail pack would be PS3 only, sold exclusively at Gamestop, and come packaged with a download code, 2000 Capcom Unity points, a 1 month subscription to Marvel Digital comics, and finally a media disc containing art, wallpapers and PS3 themes.
Shortly after the rumors started, all evidence it’s existence seem to vanish. Well it’s back and it’s confirmed. A user on Capcom unity posted this image earlier and a moderator confirmed that it is in fact, real.
The retail pack comes with everything listed before except the media disc. What’s also nice is the pack will run you #$14.99, not $19.99 like originally stated. If you can wait a few extra hours, head out to your local Gamestop later this week and pick this up. You get more for the same price, can’t argue with that.
For everyone else, MVC2 releases this Thursday on the Playstation network and will cost $14.99. Suddenly that week delay seems a lot more worth it.
[UPDATE] Capcom has confirmed the retail pack does NOT come with a manual or Capcom Unity points. So to be clear, the retail pack will include the download code for the game and a one month subscription to Marvel Online. Still not a bad deal considering it’s the same price as the regular downloadable version.
