Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia has commented that Wii U hardware and software sales from Gamestop have sold well below expectations.
He says the availability of Wii U consoles at Gamestop are “abundant” and that the software attach rate for the console is “low”. Bhatia finally concluded by saying: “Our conclusion is the Nintendo Wii U launch has been slightly disappointing.”
It’s hard to say if his statement is true or not as he did not give out official numbers of the amount of consoles Gamestop was hoping to sell over the holiday period. In either case, the Wii U sold over 400,000 units in its first week on sale in North America and over 300,000 units in Japan’s opening weekend.
