Jens Bergensten has just revealed that gamers won’t be seeing a full Minecraft update, to version 1.5, until early next year.
The reasoning behind this is that instead of working on solely the ‘redstone update’ the Mojang team is hard at work on “several parallel branches of the code”, for the 1.5 update and a midway update that will bring in bug fixes and fireworks (that they want in Minecraft prior to New Year’s Eve). Unfortunately, now the 1.5 ‘redstone’ update is aimed to be out in “January (or possibly February)”: at least we will have a new interesting feature to celebrate the New Year with.
