4A Games has confirmed with NowGamer that it will not be bringing Metro: Last Light to the Wii U due to the console not being able to render games as well as the PS3 or Xbox 360.
Metro: Last Light’s Chief technical officer, Oles Shishkovtsov explained to NowGamer:
“[The] Wii U has a horrible, slow CPU.”
Huw Beynon (another 4A Games employee) also weighed in on his opinion of the Wii U’s performance.
“We had an early look at it, we thought we could probably do it, but in terms of the impact we would make on the overall quality of the game – potentially to its detriment – we just figured it wasn’t worth pursuing at this time. It’s something we might return to. I really couldn’t make any promises, though.”
It’s still early days to tell if the Wii U is a hard console to develop on. Maybe with enough time, games might look and perform better on the Wii U in the near future. Developers had a similar problem making games for the PS3 when it launched too…
