In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK, SCCE’s Online Producer Daniel Brooke has revealed that Sony has no plans to continue on with its popular Resistance franchise.
Here’s what he announced:
“The Resistance franchise has been exciting to work on but as for the future we have no definitive plans.”
Original Resistance developer Insomniac Games were responsible for creating the franchise back in 2006 along with the PS3’s launch. It proved to be popular that Resistance 2 was released in 2008 to much critical and commercial success. Although Resistance 3 was critically acclaimed, it sold less than Sony was hoping for.
After that, Insomniac Games is currently making new games on other platforms now outside of Sony platforms. It was thought that Sony would continue with the franchise with a different developer. Resistance Burning Skies came out earlier this year for the PS Vita only to be met with lukewarm and mixed reviews.
It sounds like Sony will end the franchise for good. Will you miss the Resistance franchise?
