While in EA’s quarterly phone call to investors this today, Chief Executive Officer John Riccitiello announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic has seen rather substantial drop in subscribers since the game launched. However, he was quick to note that the game still has over a million paying customers. He did not give exact numbers, but according to a report published on Business Wire, The Old Republic has 1.3 million subscribers still. This means that the game has seen a 23% drop from the 1.7 million of players at launch.
The Old Republic has seen it’s fair share of updates and content packs, but it seems as if that is not enough for some of it’s older subscribers. It is typical to see MMO’s loose a chunk of their subscribers after launch, but what do you guys think? Is this drop in subscribers a sign of things to come, or will the subs pick back up when the summer hits? Let us know and if you have unsubscribed from TOR let us know why.
