When Link reaches the end of the Lanayru Mining Facility, the giant scorpion boss, Moldarach, battle begins. This battle is quite easy as long as you stay calm (notice the recurring theme with staying calm?) and be very aggressive. Moldarach’s weak points are quite easy to spot: the eyes on each of its claws. In order to damage this boss Link must slash between Moldarach’s claws in order to strike these eyes. There are two phases to this battle:
Phase 1
During phase 1, Moldarach only has one attack: it attempts to grab Link by lunging at him. This attack can easily be avoided by watching for when Moldarach’s claws turn red; this is the claw that is about to attack. If you are being aggressive as was earlier advised, it is possible to strike the claw before it has a chance to attack however, if Moldarach grabs Link simply shake the Wii-mote and nunchuck to get free. Once one claw has received enough damage it will simply fall off; once the second claw falls Moldarach will move on to phase 2.
Phase 2
During Phase 2, Moldarach can now attack with its tail (can be dodged or shield bashed), ramming Link with its entire body, and summon those annoying little mini-Cyclops scorpions. Remember, staying calm and aggressive also serves best during this phase. At the start of phase 2, Moldarach will dive under the sand and Link will have to use the Gust Jar in order to uncover the giant scorpion before he can deal any damage to it. NOTE: reports indicate that if you wait long enough Moldarach will emerge on its own as well. The only weakness Moldarach now has is the eye on the front of its body. Once Link stabs this eye, Moldarach will dive back under the sand; repeat the previous step and Moldarach will be as good as gone.
