If pre-order figures compiled by VG Chartz are accurate, Modern Warfare 3 is set to be the biggest launch in entertainment history.
Estimates from VG Chartz say that 6.5 million pre-orders have been made worldwide for Modern Warfare 3. This is up 1.5 million units from last year’s Black Ops and up 2.2 million units for Modern Warfare 2. Over 60% of the pre-orders were made from America with 60% of total pre-orders being made for the Xbox 360 version of the game.
In comparison, Battlefield 3 sold 5 million copies in its first week. A great achievement in itself but Modern Warfare 3 is sure to eclipse this.
Day one figures for Modern Warfare 3 will be made shortly. It’s no doubt going to be a huge number making more money in one day than most Hollywood movies make in their whole theatrical run.
