Many of you will be aware of Battlefield 3’s HD texture pack install on the 360. Essentially this means that you’re required to install textures on your 360 hard drive if you want the optimum console BF3 experience. To those of you who own 360’s without the hard drive? Battlefield 3 doesn’t look so hot.
Check out the accompanying comparison video to see directly how big the difference between HD and SD is on the 360. While the discrepancy wont surprise many people, it does raise an interesting question. Is it ok to deliver a decidedly inferior version of the game to people who still own the earliest versions of a console? For most of us the HD texture pack will be a no brainer, but spare a thought for those who, for whatever reason, don’t have the facilities to bring their newest game up to scratch.
I guess this is the inevitable outcome of making PC your lead platform and the console versions ports.
