Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter has claimed that Modern Warfare 3 will outsell Battlefield 3 by a big margin of 2 to 1 respectively.
Although his analysis only predicts US figures he feels Modern Warfare 3 will sell 16 million copies in the USA alone. If his prediction is true, Modern Warfare 3 will become the highest selling video game in United States history beating out Blacks Ops which sold 14 million units.
He feels Modern Warfare 3 will go on to sell 16 million copies while Battlefield 3 will have to settle for only 8 million copies. However he feels gamers will buy both games.
“I’d guess that around half of the console copies of Battlefield 3 will be bought by people who also buy Modern Warfare 3, so around 2 to 3 million will buy both,” he said. “I don’t see much cannibalization of the titles.”
Battlefield 3 is out now while Modern Warfare 3 is out November 8th. It will be interesting to see if his predictions comes true or not.
