EA has teamed up with Virgin Gaming for a Battlefield 3 competition putting $1.6 million up for the taking.
Virgin Gaming is a competitive gaming network and is a part of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group. That is why a lot of money is at stake here. EA in the press release stated it as the “largest console videogame competition in gaming history“.
It’s called the Battlefield 3 Worldwide Conquest Tournament. It’s a worldwide tournament open to all gamers in all countries. At this stage, the competition is only open to PS3 and Xbox 360 players. It’s likely PC Battlefield 3 gamers may have a competition of their own in the near future.

Battlefield 3 is released on October 25th for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The Battlefield 3 beta starts soon for all players on September 29th.
